wing chun kung fu
Wing Chun Kung Fu is a highly effective martial art fighting system. Essentially, Wing Chun is a boxing system. It does not use high kicks or grappling. Instead, Wing Chun uses highly effective and practical blocks and strikes to create a boxing style that is very effective at close range.
Wing Chun focuses on stance, center line techniques, simultaneous blocking and counterpunching, and forward energy to create an efficient boxing style. As with any martial art, there is a great deal of misconception and poor understanding about Wing Chun. For example, it is not a technique based system but rather concept based. In an authentic Wing Chun club, a student should not practice techniques based on “if the attacker does this”. Students should not be rushed through forms, or taught third form techniques while still in first form, for example. Instead, students should learn the forms, practice the techniques on a variety of platforms, and progressively learn to always apply the basic concepts. If a student is able to always adhere to the concepts of Wing Chun, then they should be able to apply it regardless of the techniques they use. |
